Alibaba Forays Into AI Race
Chinese tech giant Alibaba has launched Tongyi Qianwen (translates to “truth from a thousand questions”), an AI language model that is capable to write invitation letters, organize vacations, and provide beauty product recommendations. Initially it will be included in DingTalk and Tmall Genie for summarizing meeting notes, composing emails and creating business proposals. This technology “will bring about big changes to the way we produce, the way we work, and the way we live our lives” according to CEO Daniel Zhang.
AI Language Model Availability
Customers of the Chinese internet giant’s cloud division can register for access to Tongyi Qianwen starting this Friday in order to create massive language models tailored specifically to their needs. It can switch between Mandarin and English languages.
The Cyberspace Administration of China drafted guidelines said that all material produced must be in line with “core socialist values” and comply with data security and personal information protection regulations or else violators might face criminal charges and financial penalties.
